Persuasive writing-Are Deserts ugly or beautiful?

Persuasive writing-Are Deserts ugly or beautiful?

I think deserts are beautiful because deserts are also Antarctica and the Arctic, not just the barren burnt landscapes of the high-temperature deserts, I think that both types of deserts are beautiful as they contain vast quantities of snow or sand. I love the way the grey peaks stick out of the creamy white snow and the tan rocky outcrops in the high-temperature deserts. Overall I think that deserts are not ugly but fascinating landscapes.

Today in Whenua we write a persuasive piece of writing, Miss Farr gave us a website with lots of different topics for persuasive writing I chose-Are Deserts ugly or beautiful? We are learning to do persuade as it is a great skill to have and be able to use.

Descriptive writing

It was a windy cold day when we got on the boat there were people everywhere talking loudly We got our tickets and went to the dock we got on the boat and sat at some seats by the window. As the boat left the dock the waves pushed against the hull and made it wobble like jelly. We went outside and climbed up the steps to the roof of the boat the wind blew around wildly. the dark navy blue water was calm but kept the boat swaying with every wave, we saw massive mountains that towered above us in every direction and waterfalls that looked down on us as we sailed past, the spray from the waterfalls kept the boat moist as we got closer to other waterfalls. when we got to the mouth of Milford sounds (originally call Milford haven) we could see the Tasman sea and the waves got more aggressive and forced the boat to get slower. we moved closer to the mountains on the other side of the sounds and turned back in the direction of the dock. we went back to our seats and could smell the salty sea air from the open doors at the back of the boat we watched other boats on the same path as us sailing down to the Tasman. When we got closer to the harbor we saw more boats reversing out of the dock.

Graffiti or street art? task 2

Yesterday we read an article about people being arrested for doing graffiti or street art? I enjoyed reading this because it was a very interesting article and it had different street artists at the end of the article. The article was about two men that were jailed for graffiti and showed similar cases.

I don't think the two men should have been arrested because street art can help people feel happy and it should be good if people graffiti because people make a living out of graffiti and some people make heaps of money from graffiti. So the two men shouldn't be arrest because they are just lifting people's spirits and beautifying the city or town.

Coral reefs

Today we worked on why coral reefs are dying. I found this very interesting how the coral reefs were dying.
I worked with Quaid and Taj. this was fun to learn something new and something more people should know about this to help the environment. If you thought this was interesting thank you and go and check Taj and Quaid's blog to see this again and comment.

Mt Erebus air crash
-New Zealand History

The morning of 28 November 1979, Air New Zealand
left an airport in Auckland, for an 11-hour return from
sightseeing in Antarctica.

At 12.49 pm the aircraft crashed into the slopes of mt Erebus
Killing all 237 passengers and 20 crew onboard. It was New Zealand’s worst civil disaster in New Zealand History.

A search and rescue aircraft was sent to Antarctica. The wreckage was sighted at the start of the sloping mountain.

A National Mt Erebus memorial will be unveiled in 2020.

The wide-bodied DC10 jet operated by Air New Zealand flew into the lower slopes of the world's southernmost active volcano, the 3794-meter-high Mt Erebus in Antarctica, killing all 257 people on board the Air New Zealand sightseeing flight. Chief air accident inspector accused them of flying to low he was obviously suspicious of them not following airline orders.

MT Erebus

Mt Erebus

Flight 901 was the flight that crashed into the slopes of the 6th highest mountain.
Located on ross island is the big volcano that killed all on board.
The wreckage was found by search and rescue.
nobody left alive on the plane it had gotten destroyed in the snow.

It all took place in 1979.
It last erupted in 2011.
The 3,794-m mountain is the second-highest volcano in Antarctica.
There were 157 people onboard being immediately killed as soon as it crashed.

Mt Erebus
It wasn't the volcano that killed them all it was the whiteout so they couldn't see.
The whiteout disappeared soon and they crashed into the volcano.
